whisper blocking system is /fail
for about a week now i have been getting whispers from a gold selling site. i have never bought gold from this site or any other site. every time i log on i get a whisper, and about every 10-15 minutes after that till i quit playing. my ignore list is full of this gold sellers names now, and i am left to do absolutely nothing. every time i delete a name to add a new one, another name or one of the previous one just continues the spam. i can't (and shouldn't have to) go to DND or offline.
question. when you ignore someone does it ignore just that name or the whole account? i think it should ignore the whole account
we should definitely get a bigger ignore list imo. not just for what is happening to me, but because there is a huge group of retards/asshats out there.
anyone have any ideas as to how to make this stop?

It's not the the whisper blocking system is malfunctioning, it's that the likely reason is the gold seller has a large handful of accounts.

I have been pm'ed 30+ times and its always been different accounts. These gold sellers just have ridiculous ammounts of trials (probably..).

Hmm perhaps an automated script to get the trial key from guildwars.com. == a lot of keys. Ip ban I'd say. (Then there are still proxy's )

Happens to me a number of times per day, occasionally when they pm multiple times, i just stick them on ignore for a while. If my ignore list gets full, take one of them off, since they will (hopefully) have being banned by then. I dare say this works on the bot just pressing the tab key, and proceeding to pm everyone in the district. I may be wrong of course.

You can say that again. Temple districts are nuts.

A nice feature would be to be able to switch off all whispers unless they are either from the Guild/Alliance you are in, or on your friends list.
Also when I untick local chat why can I still see the chat text above the spammers character? Surely that's a bug.

This PMing bot thing is relatively new, and it's GOT TO STOP.

That's a bug. If you opt out of local chat because someone is rude, harassing, or spamming, you should not be able to see it!

Agreed. There have been about 10 threads on this and suggestions to stop gold spammers and improve report in the last week. That is a huge upswing. I sure hope A.net is paying attention. There is definately something up.

That's not a bug, it's been that way since 05 at least. It only shows chat in the chat bubbles, not in the chat log. It shouldn't be too hard to turn the camera so you can't see the chat bubble of the person being rude to you.

Yep, I've been there around 4 times in the last 6 months and no spam! They probably get the name of people standing there.

Not true. You can turn off local chat but still see random bits.
